Meet Mme Taryn

Taryn is a bilingual educator who has spent her entire life immersed in the French language — first as a student, then as a teacher, and now as the founder of Fleurish in French.

Raised in the French immersion program herself, Taryn understands firsthand the gift of bilingualism and the doors it opens. She holds a degree in second language teaching in French from the University of Ottawa and has served as a French immersion teacher with the Durham District School Board for over 13 years, where she has taught students from Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Her experience spans curriculum development, literacy and math leadership, French as a Second Language (FSL) professional development, and serving as a certified DELF examiner. Taryn has designed engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons for diverse learners, created literacy interventions in French, and led school-wide initiatives that brought learning to life.

Before her teaching career, Taryn worked as a staff assistant with the Department of National Defence, where she coordinated national conferences, managed health and safety campaigns, and honed her project management and communication skills.

Her experience as a dance teacher, and a competitive dancer in her youth, will make for fun and exciting movement and music breaks in each class.

But what truly sets Taryn apart is her heart. She believes that language learning should be joyful, nurturing, and rooted in play. She knows that the early years are precious and that introducing French through music, movement, and meaningful connection and authentic experiences plants seeds that will fleurish for a lifetime. That's why she's raising her three young children bilingually.

Taryn is thrilled to bring her expertise, passion, and warmth to Fleurish in French, creating a space where families and little ones can discover the magic of bilingualism together.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Learning through play, growing through language

At Fleurish in French, we believe that children learn best when they're engaged, curious, and having fun. That's why our program is rooted in play-based learning — an approach that honours how young minds naturally explore and navigate the world. The focus is on practice and connection, not perfection.

Connection over perfection
The focus isn't on perfect pronunciation or grammar—it's about practicing and connecting with your child, in a safe and welcoming environment.

Why Start So Young?

The years from 0 to 6 are a critical window for language development. During this time, children's brains are wired to absorb sounds, patterns, and vocabulary with incredible ease.

Early exposure to French:
•    Supports cognitive development and problem-solving skills
•    Enhances literacy in both French and English and other languages
•    Builds cultural awareness, appreciation and empathy
•    Creates a strong foundation for lifelong bilingualism

At Fleurish in French, we meet children exactly where they are, honouring their developmental stage while gently introducing them to the rhythm, melody, and beauty of the French language.

What can we help you with?
